DEFINITION:
Non metallic expansion joints for ducting are flexible connectors
designed to provide stress relief in the ducting system by absorbing
movement caused by Thermal Activity. They also act as vibration
isolators, shock absorbers and in some instances compensate for
minor misalignment of associated ducting or equipment. The basis for
ThermoFab's expansion joint technology is a fibreglass reinforced
EPDM Elastomer specifically developed for use as an expansion joint
material. For higher temperature applications, an alternative
silicone material is now available which offers the same mechanical
characteristics as the EPDM. The availability of both these
materials provides the foundation for a versatile and robust
expansion joint system custom made to suit almost any application.
|
WHY ELASTOMERIC EXPANSION JOINTS?
In the past, manufacturers tended to make expansion joints from
fabric-based materials which were inclined to be rather 'flimsy'.
ThermoFab, on the other hand, uses elastomeric materials, which, by
virtue of their thickness, result in a heavier duty, less stressed
expansion joint, which offers a longer trouble-free working life.
Thermofab designs and manufactures
expansion joints to suit standard flange systems, but also have the
capability to manufacture joints to suit any size, shape or
application.
All ThermoFab strip-type expansion
joints are supplied with a joining kit and comprehensive
installation instructions in order to ensure trouble free mounting
of expansion joints and bolsters.
WHY DO WE NEED A BOLSTER?
A bolster is a thermal pillow installed under the expansion
joint itself in such a manner as to become an integral part of the
expansion joint system. As all ThermoFab expansion joints are
designed with long life and reliability in mind, the inclusion of a
bolster in most instances, is recommended. The bolster provides
front line thermal insulation for the expansion joint as well as
providing abrasion protection and preventing dust incursion into the
expansion joint.

ThermoFab Gasket Division has
manufacture specialised machine and hand made gaskets for over 10
years. Although we have standard type gaskets, we can manufacture to
suit individual application with temperatures up to 1000 degrees
Celsius and pressures to 17 Bar. ThermoFab
uses
only quality materials, most of which
are B.S Tested. Pictured below are just a few examples of different
Gasket types. please contact us for your specific requirement.

The latest addition to the ThermoFab range is
our new removable and reusable covers which are manufactured using woven
fibreglass cloth, coated with Teflon* which
gives excellent chemical resistance and high thermal properties. ThermoFab
Thermal Covers have been successfully used at 650 degrees Celsius for
extended periods and readily resist contamination by water, oily fluids and
inadvertent chemical splashes at elevated temperatures. ThermoFab Thermal
Covers are custom designed and are available for most types of equipment.
*Teflon is a Du Pont
registered trade name. |

ThermoFab Discharge Chutes are designed to
operate in the Bulk Loading Industry. This chute is normally used where a
product is discharged into either a truck or rail wagon. ThermoFab Chutes
create virtually dust free discharging and can be supplied as an European
fixed type or our own spring-loaded, free-floating design. Our loading chutes
are manufactured in different sizes using internationally accepted
materials. Using the latest technological innovations and manufacturing
processes, ThermoFab have a discharge chute to suit most systems.
